Australia Team established a competitive goal 181/10 (20 Overs) but Sri Lanka Team had pursued it and won the game by 8 wickets and two overs remaining. The match was topped with an excellent century by Pathum Nissanka, allowing Sri Lanka to win easily. In this blog, we will cover depth news about the Australian Men’s Cricket Team Vs Sri Lanka National Cricket Team Match Scorecard, team individual scores, winner team name, man of the match, and performances. 1st Innings – Australia Batting Stats Australia started their innings on a solid note as they were requested to open the innings. The first two Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh gave an explosive beginning in the powerplay overs. Travis Head was aggressive and administered 56 runs out of 29 balls with multiple hits on the periphery and half-dozen sixes. In his offensive strategy, Australia gained an initial momentum. He was assisted by Mitchell Marsh who made equally impressive 54 runs with 27 balls. The most significant point of the innings was the partnership between Head and Marsh since the two men contributed over 100 runs towards the first wicket. Their aggressive fighting made Australia be at a strong position during the first half of the innings. The Sri Lankan bowling attack began to pick up after dismissal of the openers. The middle order of Australia also failed to keep the same pace of the score. Josh Inglis contributed 27 runs and Glenn Maxwell 22 runs which allowed the team to keep on with the innings without a total breakdown. But the bowlers of Sri Lanka succeeded in taking regular wickets at the middle overs. Opinion was that Australia was unable to pick up much pace in the last few overs though the partnership started brilliantly. The team finally scored 181 runs in 20 over making the Sri Lankan team achieve a target of 182 runs to win the match. 1st Innings- Sri Lanka Bowling Stats The bowling unit of Sri Lanka was resilient after the aggressive opening made by the Australian openers. The bowlers had a tough time in the initial overs, but eventually, they regained their composure and were able to keep the scoring rate at a slow pace in the midway segment of the innings. Dushan Hemantha made Sri Lanka the best bowler in the first innings. He gave a significant spell and ended with 3 wickets at 37 runs on four overs. His wickets served to slow down the advancement of Australia by Sri Lanka and avoid bigger accolade. Another valuable input was made by fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera. He bowled 2 wickets on 36 runs, applying his pace and accuracy to cause pressure to the Australian batters. Other bowlers that were well supported kept long clean lines and did not allow Australia to hit a 190-run mark. 2nd Innings- Sri Lanka Batting Stats With a target of 182 runs, Sri Lanka had confidence and good intentions towards the run chase. The batting lineup showed calmness and had a consistent run rate during the innings. Pathum Nissanka had the best performance of them all as he gave a brilliant unbeatable century. He was not out of 52 balls and reached 100 runs, one of the best innings of the tournament. His knock had a number of well timed boundaries as well as strong shots that kept the Sri Lanka on top of the necessary run rate. Nissanka also established a very significant partnership with Kusal Mendis, who made 51 out of 38 balls. Mendis was the supporting player who made the innings stable as Nissanka persisted to reign the Australian bowling armory. Their alliance was a significant factor in the match being taken over by Sri Lanka. Once Mendis had been dismissed Pavan Rathnayake made 28 not out, completing the chase. Sri Lanka also managed to achieve 184 runs without much difficulty within 18 overs for the loss of two wickets. 2nd Innings Australia Bowling Stats Bowlers of Australia struggled to defend their score against Sri Lanka batting performance which was very self-assured. The pitch was conducive to batting and batters in Sri Lanka capitalized on it. The Australian team only experienced a couple of breakthroughs in the chase. Marcus Stoinis was able to claim two wickets with an overall tally of 246 in his four overs. The remaining bowling attack was however unable to contain the Sri Lankan batters and could not put consistent pressure. Due to an excellent relationship between Nissanka and Mendis, Australia failed to generate sufficient opportunities to prevent the run chase. Sri Lanka continued to control the match and eventually won the game comfortably. Player of the Match Pathum Nissanka was the winner of the Player of the Match, due to his outstanding unbeaten hundred. The critical reason that led to the victory of Sri Lanka and one of the most remarkable performances in the group stage of the tournament was his 100 runs on 52 balls. Match Result Sri Lanka in the end managed to pursue the Australian target. Australia had scored 181 runs in their 20 overs but Sri Lanka had scored 184 runs having lost two wickets in 18 overs. Sri Lanka emerged the victor, by 8 wickets in the ICC Men’s T20 world cup 2025-26 group round. Conclusion The Sri Lanka vs Australia 30 th game of the ICC Men T20 world cup 2025-26 was a very exciting match between two powerful teams. Australia had a competitive score courtesy of the outstanding opening collaboration between Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh. Sri Lanka however retaliated with some excellent batting by Pathum Nissanka.

India beat New Zealand by 96 Runs to Win ICC T20 World Cup 2026

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Final was held on Sunday, 8 March 2026 between the India men’s national cricket team and the New Zealand men’s national cricket team. India put up a complete show throughout the finals and won a chasing target of 96 runs. India made 255/5 in the 20 overs and New Zealand get bowled out for just 159 runs in the 19 overs. India’s Batting Performance India opted to bat first after winning the toss in final. They had nothing but aggression from their batting order and posted a mammoth total on the board. Kolkata: Wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson scored the highest for India. He scored 89 runs off 46 balls, played with the anchor role in the innings, and maintained a high strike rate throughout his innings. Samson hit a few of his shots towards the end, with plenty of boundaries and sixes keeping the momentum going for India. Abhishek Sharma, the opening batter, raced to a brisk start for India. Scoring 52 off only 21 balls, he played aggressively throughout the powerplay overs and attacked New Zealand bowlers right from the start. Ishan Kishan was the other key contribution, with 54 runs in 25 balls. Kishan followed his fitness instructor’s advice and continued to attack the bowling, helping India escape to a blistering 12 runs plus per over run rate at the midpoint of their innings. All-rounder Shivam Dube powered the innings to closure in the closing overs. Dube smacked 26 runs in mere 8 balls, hitting boundaries in the dying overs which led India to post a target of 255 runs at the loss of five wickets after completion of 20 overs. New Zealand’s Chase When chasing down the target of 256 runs, a quick start and steady partnerships would be required by the New Zealand men’s national cricket team. But the Indian bowlers held stringency through the innings. New Zealand’s top scorer was the wicketkeeper-batter Tim Seifert. He started an aggressive innings scoring 52 runs from 26 balls trying to keep his team in the chase early on. Captain Mitchell Santner also chipped in with the bat scoring 43 runs off 35 balls. Santner sought to rekindle the innings and knitting up partnerships, but the required run rate kept on climbing as wickets fell at regular intervals. Besides these two contributions, the New Zealand batting line-up was poor against India’s bowling attack. The team went on to lose all their ten wickets for 159 runs in mere 19 overs, way behind the target. Bumrah’s Bowling Performance It was Indian quick Jasprit Bumrah who produced the best bowling performance of the match. He bowled 4 runs, yielded 15 runs only and took 4 wickets. Bumrah’s incisive spell was instrumental in checkmating New Zealand’s chase. He was adjudged the Player of the Match for his brilliant performance.
